TRANSCEND showcased at the Connecting Europe Days 2026

From 29 September to 1 October 2026, Open ENLoCC, ITL and Interporto Bologna took part in the Connecting Europe Days, the European Commission’s flagship event for transport and mobility. This year’s edition focused on strengthening the competitiveness, resilience and connectivity of the European transport system, bringing together key stakeholders from across Europe.

The event featured high-level representatives of the European institutions, including European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and Commissioners Raffaele Fitto, Apostolos Tsitsikostas and Andrius Kubilius, alongside representatives from the transport, logistics, research and innovation sectors.

Connecting Europe Days provided an excellent opportunity for the TRANSCEND project to present its objectives, activities and results to a wide audience of European transport and logistics stakeholders. The event also offered valuable opportunities for networking, knowledge exchange and discussion on the challenges and opportunities shaping the future of Europe’s transport system.

Through its participation, TRANSCEND further strengthened its visibility within the European transport community and contributed to the broader exchange of ideas on building a more connected, competitive and resilient European transport system.

The work of the TRANSCEND project continues this autumn with a busy programme of events and activities!

As the DEMO Sessions continue to engage the project’s pilot end users, TRANSCEND partners have also been taking the project’s work and achievements to the international stage. These events provide valuable opportunities to showcase the progress made by the consortium, exchange experiences with stakeholders from across Europe, and foster new synergies and collaboration opportunities with other EU-funded projects.

With pilot activities underway and new opportunities for cooperation emerging, TRANSCEND continues to build momentum towards its objectives and strengthen its contribution to a more resilient and innovative European transport and logistics sector.

Rationale

Ensuring the resilience of Critical Infrastructures (CIs), particularly in the transport sector, has become increasingly vital. Today, there is a strong emphasis on securing information systems and effectively managing risks that could disrupt these essential services. Moreover, CIs are becoming progressively more interdependent across sectors; for example, energy is essential for telecommunications, which in turn supports logistics and transport operations. This growing interconnectedness increases systemic complexity and makes CIs more vulnerable to sophisticated cyber-physical attacks. As a result, understanding and modelling dependencies both across different sectors and domains, and within operators of the same CI, is not only required by regulations, but also crucial for improving preparedness, risk management, and coordinated incident response.

Objective

The primary objective of the ecosystem modelling module is to analyse an ecosystem surrounding a CI as a whole and to provide the foundations for simulating potential impacts on the resilience of a supply chain composed of multiple entities (both internal and external to the CI) by propagating risk consequences across dependencies (domino effect).
