Transcend General Assembly in Luxembourg

On June 18th and 19th, the TRANSCEND project successfully held its General Assembly in Luxembourg, a two-day intensive meeting.

On June 18th and 19th, the TRANSCEND project partnership successfully held its General Assembly in Luxembourg!

The first day kicked off at the University of Luxembourg, where Laura Palacios-Arguello from LCL welcomed the TRANSCEND partners. Following an introductory speech by Doris Neumann, Project Officer at the European Research Executive Agency (REA), partners dove into the latest developments. Discussions covered ongoing activities, such as the Common Framework for ecosystem and resilience analyses, process mining, and the next steps for the development of the TRANSCEND Control Tower.

In the afternoon, the TRANSCEND consortium hosted the public event, “Enhancing Transport Resilience: Policy Insights under CER and NIS2”. This event brought together key stakeholders from Luxembourg. Moderated by Cindy Guerlain from LIST, the event focused on the current state of the CER and NIS2 Directives and their national-level implementation, particularly in Luxembourg and Spain. Discussions highlighted emerging threats facing freight transport in an increasingly complex geopolitical landscape. Speakers included Sebastian Serwiak (DG HOME, European Commission), Jeff Schlentz (HCPN), Ana María Sopena (CNPIC), Sheila Becker (ILR), and Luca Urcioli (ZLC).

The second day took place at the Cargolux Headquarters. After productive discussions on project management, communication, and exploitation strategies, partners participated in a site visit to the Cargo Centre, managed by LuxCargo Handling—a subsidiary of Cargolux and a TRANSCEND project partner.
This visit offered an exceptional opportunity for TRANSCEND partners to explore the operations behind Luxembourg’s main air cargo logistics hub — the 7th largest in Europe — which can handle over 1.2 million tons of freight annually from around the world.

The Luxembourg meeting served as a pivotal moment for the TRANSCEND partners to reflect on progress, strengthen collaboration, and reaffirm the importance of enhancing the protection and resilience of critical freight transport infrastructure across Europe against physical, cyber, and hybrid threats. It also helped chart the course for the project’s next steps in the coming months.
